What Is Care Community Farm?

Dancing Goat Therapy Farm is a sustainable Care Farm where people come together to work, learn, and grow healthy food. We use the farm environment as a therapeutic base for promoting health, wellness, and overall quality of LIFE. The farm becomes Nature’s Classroom, Sanctuary, Community Center, and Holistic Healing Center all wrapped up into one! following a hybrid model, offering a variety of programs and services to a variety of population and needs. The common thread for all is that Nature Nurtures!

Together, Farming Joy!

Our Vision is to create a Sanctuary of wellness for people, animals, and our environment. A place of inclusion, kindness, compassion, and creativity. A place to learn, create, move, share, laugh and celebrate the gifts of nature, animals, one another, and oneself.
Together, Farming JOY!
Care Farm’s Mission & Purpose is to provide farm based educational, recreational & creative activities and therapies designed to promote wellness, encourage healing and bring JOY to people, especially those facing life challenges. Promoting wellness through Nature, Animals & The Arts.

How it works?

We invite 48 Community Agriculture Members to form 8 pods of 6 members each.
Each Saturday (March - Oct 2024) we invite 1 member from each Pod to the Farm for 4-5 hrs to tend to garden chores, you plant, weed & harvest under the direction of a coordinator. And then you leave with a basket of veggies!
After Farm work, we co-create themed gatherings, Communal meals, workshops, music jams, dance & connect with nature. Each gathering is unique and woven together from the distinctive gifts that each and every one of us offers to the collective.
Life happens and if you can’t make the assigned week then you find another member within your group to fill for you.
Our garden plot is planned with a diversity of seasonal vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
The program starts in March - May with field preparation, planning & planting. During the months of June through October, we harvest, clean, and divvy up all the veggies from our garden amongst the community farm participants.
Application for Community Agriculture membership requires no monetary cost, Participation is based on sharing and community.
You spend 4-5 hrs One Saturday Per Month on the Farm & Receive Fresh Produce Evey Week of the growing season (May- Oct).
Carpooling available
We hope you come out to see how special our farm is!

Imagine …

Having access to a farm to gather on weekends with loved ones,
grow food together, share meals,
make art, and dance!
Imagine…
the entire community planting and harvesting food, enjoying communal meals, and having excess produce to take back to the city for themselves and the other members.
Imagine…
an environment where children can roam freely and find joy playing in nature and its elements.
Imagine…
adults finding the time and trust to authentically connect to their needs and desires with support from a community that helps them grow, heal, and navigate their challenges.
Time moves more slowly here at the Farm. We invite you to slow down, unwind and take the time to breathe. Spend time with our animals. Plant a flower. Watch the clouds. Smile.

FAQ’s

Do I have to come to the farm every week?

No, finally you can take a summer vacation without any garden guilt! You come to the farm one Saturday per Month Only. If you can’t make your shift, you ask a friend to fill in for you. You continue to receive a box of farm Fresh Produce every week through the growing season.

Do I need prior farming experience? What do we do each shift?

No! All skill levels are welcome.
Our community farmers are a diverse group with different levels of growing experience. Our coordinators will teach you everything you need to know to be a part of this program. You’ll take home some great skills back to your own garden as well!
At each shift we plant, weed, and harvest crops under the direction of a coordinator.  We also work on shared projects with the horticulture operation at the farm such as weed whacking around our shared electric fence or cracking garlic for fall planting. You also participate in ad-hoc farm projects.

How much veg can I expect from this program?

The harvest is planned for 18 weeks from mid June to early October. The harvest will be lighter in the spring, with a lot of greens, but as the season progresses you can expect to take home a full grocery bag full of fresh vegetables, harvested by you and your fellow community farmers on your shift.

How much fee do I need to pay to be a Care Farm Member?

Application for Community Agriculture membership requires no monetary cost, Participation is based on sharing and community.

 What do community farmers grow?

A variety of vegetables, fruits & herbs.

Can I participate with my kids?

We Absolutely love children; most farm tasks are kid friendly. This is the best opportunity for children to learn where their food comes from.

 Can I bring a friend?

Friends are welcome to join and partake in farm tasks. They get to leave with a box of fresh veggies when they come to the farm.
