Teen & Child Therapy in Fredericton, New Brunswick

  • My Approach

Not all children and teens open up sitting across from someone in an office.

For many, that setting can feel pressured, unfamiliar, or even intimidating — especially when they don’t yet have the words for what they’re feeling.

On the farm, the process looks different.

We might be walking, feeding animals, sitting outdoors, or simply sharing space without the pressure to talk right away.
Connection builds naturally — through movement, environment, and experience.

Animals play a powerful role in this process.

They offer a sense of calm, safety, and non-judgment.
For many young people, it’s easier to connect, regulate, and eventually open up when they feel at ease in their surroundings.

Instead of being asked direct questions, children and teens are given space to:

    • settle into their environment

    • feel safe in their body

    • engage at their own pace

And from there — conversation, expression, and trust begin to emerge naturally.

This approach often allows young people to:

    • open up more organically

    • express emotions without pressure

    • build confidence and connection

    • feel seen and understood without being “put on the spot”

Therapy becomes less about sitting and talking —
and more about experiencing, connecting, and gently making sense of their inner world.
